You guys, the Spanglish truck is looking like a million bucks on the inside! If you remember, we last showed you the truck a few months ago when it was a little on the dowdy side (Buildout Progress – Part 1). Since then, we have had tons of progress and reconstructive surgery is almost complete. So, what’s new inside the food truck? I can get into all the detail and technical jargon, but mostly we have made sure that we have a truck that meets health inspection code and is completely safe to cook in. But we really know that you just want to see the pictures, so here they are!
It really is a mobile commercial kitchen! The truck is fully decked with stainless steel walls, floors, and tables to make sure we can clean and sanitize everything. We have also added storage and counter prep space so we can increase our menu offerings and have plenty of space to prepare them. Another fun tidbit is that all 4 of us have been ServSafe certified! This means that we are trained with knowledge on how to keep our food and kitchen area safe for customers.
We are so appreciative of the support we received through the Kickstarter campaign. As you can see, we have put the support to good use to make the best truck we can! We are now gearing up to start preparing Kickstarter rewards for all our backers. The Kickstarter surveys have been sent out to all of the backers requesting more information to get rewards out, so make sure to take a look at your inbox if you are one of the amazing 132 people that supported us in the campaign. If you’re not one of those 132 people, don’t fret, we still love you and hope to see you at the truck very soon.
Now, for the uber exciting news: we are ALMOST done with our truck wrap design. Our graphic designer is finalizing a few details to take it to the wrap company and get our truck all dressed up. I would love to show you the whole design, but it’s a surprise and I don’t want to ruin surprises. However, I have been allowed to give you a teeny tiny teaser of what to expect:
Isn’t it looking amazing? It’s going to be colorful, classy and such a wonderful homage to Puerto Rico, our culture, and our ingredients.
Out on the Road
Many of our friends and fans have asked us when we will be out on the road. There are still some further steps in our future to get the truck ready for service. First of all, we need to get the truck inspected by the local county and approved for use. This is in the works and we are collaborating closely with the county to get everything set for the inspection. Second, we need to finalize a few details inside the truck and get the truck design completed on the outside. Once we have both of those steps settled we will choose a launch date and let all of you know when Spanglish will be out one road! We hope to see you out on the streets of RDU soon!
